Libra Season : Branded

This is an ongoing series where I create a moodboard for the current sun season, combining my knowledge of astrology with graphic design as a creative exploration. If you have a lot of Libra placements, feel free to use elements that resonate as a form of inspiration for your own brand. My end goal is to create moodboards for each sign as an artistic reference point.

I woke up this morning with the intention of writing about Libra. But the thing is — I don’t have any prominent natal placements in Libra. So while I understand it intellectually, it’s not something that comes as naturally to me.

As we moved through our breakfast routine, I found myself tossing around a few ideas of what I could write, but nothing felt right.

Fortunately, that’s when synchronicity showed up. As my husband and kiddo were about to head out for their playdate at the park, Lenny turned around and said “mama kiss, mama hug.” He stretched his tiny little arms up in the air, did as promised, and I melted.

In that moment, Libra made its first appearance of the day through genuine love and connection with another. I realized this and decided to follow the thread based on what I knew. First, I turned on some music and sang and danced in our living room for a handful of songs. It felt good in my bones and I relaxed some more.

Then, I then sat down at my computer and gathered all of the images for Libra’s moodboard. Balance, beauty, grace. My eyes zoomed around the artboard until everything clicked into place.

Deep exhale, done. That felt good, too.

Libra is ruled by Venus: goddess of love and beauty. Knowing that, can you see how my morning became a simple illustration of what this energy can be?

In short, these are the things that help us release tension and calm down. And what better way than to do that through a loving hug, beautiful music, and art.

Libra’s ultimate goal? Peace.

SO LET’S MAKE LIBRA VISUAL

Following in the footsteps of Virgo’s organized moodboard, I decided to stick with a grid again in lieu of a collage as it felt like Libra would also appreciate the cleaner look.

Overall, I find Libra energy to be quite subjective in terms of how it comes across visually. This is because Libra comes into the world with built in aesthetic intelligence. Not only do they know what they like, but they know what looks good together, too. And so, while one Libra may find beauty in nature, another may lean towards fine art or even interior design. While one may find earthy colors calming, another may be all about romantic hues.

As a designer, this is a really interesting energy to work with. Usually, I take lead. But here, I lean a bit more on my clients’ preferences, where I’ll have them gather imagery of what they like and let that serve as a starting point for collaborative development.

In the last year alone, I had one Libran client who leaned heavily on nature and another who leaned more on the abstract. But in both cases, the endpoint was still beautiful, clean, and balanced.

Peace and harmony — the common thread.

And so for this month’s moodboard, I too got subjective. I considered what felt beautiful to me in this season and was surprised to see it skew a bit dark, yet romantic. Deep reds, browns, and warm tans. Warmth. But there’s a few sprinkles of brighter tones and blush that I think could work well, too.

Also … can you tell that I could not quit with florals this season? Plants are beautiful and they showed up in over half of the images because I couldn’t help it. Oops?

Beyond that, beautiful fabric in close up images of people either in love or well dressed flooded my Pinterest board. Hands held. Cozy bedrooms with a view. Calm calm calm.

For typography, this is another sign where a variety of type styles can work. Serif, sans serif, script, you name it. I would simply suggest keeping it in more of a lighter weight, as something bold may end up feeling too heavy for Libra.

Finally, you may notice that in terms of composition, there’s a lot of symmetry and / or alignment here. Illustrations that are perfect mirrors of one another and balanced typography.

Simply put, we’re looking for things that feel GOOD to the eyes.

And that’s it for this season! As I mentioned before, I don’t have any prominent placements in Libra, so it doesn’t make a strong appearance in my own brand. But I would be curious to hear from those of you who do dance with Libra everyday. How do you see this energy reflected in your own brand?
