Virgo Season : Branded
This is an ongoing series where I create a moodboard for the current sun season, combining my knowledge of astrology with graphic design as a creative exploration. If you have a lot of Virgo placements, feel free to use elements that resonate as a form of inspiration for your own brand. My end goal is to create moodboards for each sign as an artistic reference point.

Astrology is astrologizing again. Three-ish weeks ago, I walked into our kitchen and saw a bullet style, month long wellness spreadsheet laminated and tacked up on our fridge. On the first day of Virgo season, my big picture optimistic Sagittarius husband felt compelled to begin diligently tracking workouts and daily memories in an effort towards self improvement and personal growth.
You can’t make this stuff up. And it has Virgo fingerprints ALL over it.
Virgo, the sign of perfection. The energy that sees something and knows how to make it better. And it always starts on an individual level. Virgo takes a look at who they are and who they could be and diligently works towards getting there. They knit pick and edit. Build skill and serve. They are competent and hard working and all of the cliché things you hear about Virgo.
The key, however, is to remember that perfection is impossible. Yes, Virgo wants to improve themselves and the world around them and yes, that’s okay. But. As they do, a radical acceptance of who they are and what they can realistically do in the present moment can make a hell of a difference along the way.
SO LET’S MAKE VIRGO VISUAL
If you’ve been following along on this series so far, you may have noticed that my Cancer and Leo moodboards were both more collage like, with images overlapping and flowing quite freely. But with Virgo I knew that couldn’t be the case. Virgo is organized. Virgo is efficient. And Virgo would much rather fit itself into a perfect grid, which is exactly what I did.
Honestly, it was kind of nice (and easier) to do it this way. So thank you, Virgo, for pointing out how I can streamline my process. Time will tell if I continue to do it for the other signs though. ;)
For type, it’s interesting. Usually, I feel strongly pulled towards a distinct style or two, but could see *most* things working for Virgo. Serif? Sans serif? Script? Check check check. The catch is that the end result should look … perfect, for lack of a better word. Meaning, every single letter and flourish should be placed with absolute care, kerning on point. Complex or simple, it doesn’t matter. The attention to detail should be immaculate. Clean. Well done.
Color was a bit more straight forward, as I immediately dove into earth tones for this earth sign. Warm and sage-y greens, with browns and rusty reds. It feels like fall and that feels good.
For imagery, I first pulled the icon set I designed for Nectar & Green (shown on the bottom right of the moodboard). It’s so simple and so clean and so Virgo, with lots of references to earth and nature. Other than that, imagery of people or places that are put together come to mind. Holistic health and healing, too. And references to communication, learning, reading, writing, organization, and meaningful service work as well, being that Virgo’s ruler is Mercury.
And that’s it for this season! I have my South Node in Virgo, which means that this particular energy type is like a habit within my psyche. For better or worse, perfection is something I can’t help but strive for in every aspect of my life. And as a designer, you can bet that I’m fussing over every single pixel. Just a little bit this way, just a little bit that way. Over and over again until it looks just right.
If you have any Virgo placements within your own chart, let me know what parts of this moodboard resonate with you the most AND, for fun, what you’re really good at organizing. People? Places? Things? All of the above?
